CBRE Secures Office in Porto for Hostelworld

Hostel booking platform reaches the North of Portugal

Hostelworld, the leading global hostel-booking platform, opened its first office in Portugal, based in Porto. CBRE, world’s leading real estate consulting, oversaw both the architectural and management phases of the project, as well as coordinating the construction works on behalf of Hostelworld. In addition, CBRE office agency was also responsible for the placement of this business at Lusitânia Building.

The new office in Portugal is Hostelworld’s third in Europe and its sixth worldwide. It will become a technological and software development hub for the group´s different brands. With this opening, the company expects to hire 50 new employees in the first 12 months, with vacancies being primarily sourced from the local talent pool.

Hostelworld’s new headquarters in Portugal are divided over two floors totaling approximately 700 sqm. The modern office was built using the latest workspace architecture style and design philosophy, taking into consideration employee´s health and wellbeing. Amongst some innovative areas, the main highlight is a social HUB area, fitted with a coffee shop and leisure area with a pool table and a table football. The office is also equipped with bright and airy meeting rooms, that reflect the company´s values and culture.

CBRE’s Building Consultancy department created a modern, sustainable and functional office that intend to match employee´s expectations when it comes to a working space. Most of them are millennials and therefore take the office environment culture very seriously. Even though the architectural project follows the main international and culture brand requirements, it also incorporates interesting local features that refer to Porto and Portugal, such as a traditional Portuguese tile panel. The office materials were carefully chosen, taking into consideration not only the sustainability plan, but also guaranteeing great durability and lower maintenance costs.
